Chapter History
The Jersey Shore Alumnae chapter was founded to support the new chapter forming at Monmouth University (Kappa Nu).
Our first meeting was held on September 21, 1998 at Bennigan's in Ocean Township, Julie Lang, Theresa Furmato, Carol Moroz and Lynda Spady were in attendance. The name we originally picked was Zeta Alumnae Chapter of the Jersey Shore, but it was later decided that Jersey Shore Alumnae chapter of Zeta Tau Alpha would become our official name.
Our first recruitment was held on November 10, 1998 at Julie Lang's home in Tinton Falls. We increased our membership that day to 13 members; our bylaws were written at that meeting as well.
At our first annual holiday cookie exchange (a meeting that continues today) on December 8, 1998 we voted on our bylaws as well as nominated and elected the first set of officers.
Between December 1998 and Summer of 1999 Glenna Gundell (DP) and Peggy Thorton (VPA 1A) signed off on our application for Chapter and Bylaws.
Our chapter loves a diversity of activities. We are always trying out new events and love to hear new ideals. We have monthly meetings and a great bunch of sisters that will help you create wonderful Zeta Alumnae memories.
